Sacheoneupseong (Fort) was constructed to protect the citizens and fend off the Japanese invaders. Now it offers a scenic resting area for the residents and visitors. Sacheoneupseong (Fort) boasts a nice view of Sacheoneup and full moon.
Sacheoneupseong (Fort) is located between Jeonguiri and Seoninri. It’s the ancient for of the eup that includes today’s Sanseong Park.
This fort was established in 1442 (24th year of King Sejong’s rule of Joseon) by Shin Inson, a vice minister who followed the royal order. Four years later in 1445, in the spring, the official wing was completed and hyunki was moved from Jeong dong Gouep to this area.
This fort was originally raised to fend off Japanese intrusion and protect the citizens, it was defeated during Imjinweran. On September 28th in the 32nd year of King Seonjo’s rule, General Jeong Girygon and Ming’s troops collaborated to drive out the Japanese and won back the fort.
The Sanseong Park that now stands is part of the ancient fort which provides Suyangru and gazebo as resting areas for the residents and visitors.
