The legend of Byeoljubu-jeon is still alive with the Rabbit Island and Turtle Island of the Bito Island!
The mudflat that appear twice a day due to the tidal movements, connect the two worlds of the land and the sea. It is an ideal place for you to get hands on experience of the mudflat ecology.
Bito Island has a very interesting story behind it. The name Bito which means a flying rabbit comes from the old legend of Byeoljubu-jeon.
As it’s known to be the home of Byeongjubu (turtle) there are Rabbit Island that resembles the shape of a crouching rabbit and Turtle island that is in the shape of a turtle. There are other islands such as Waldeong Island, Mok Island, etc. that also have interesting stories about them.
If you are planning island hopping, make sure you visit Bito Island. You will get new energy from the lyrical mood of the villages.
